A method and a fixture for manufacturing components are provided to improve a mechanical process by preventing an internal feature from being damaged. A fixture for manufacturing components comprises a fixed section(204) and a movable section(206). The fixed section includes at least one stationary datum locator(208,210) that extends outward. The movable section includes at least one movable datum locator(212) that extends from the movable section. The movable datum locator is substantially parallel to the stationary datum locator. The movable section moves in the direction going farther from the fixed section. The movable section moves in the first direction and the second direction. The first direction is substantially perpendicular to the second direction. The stationary datum locator includes a rib portion(214).
