A backlight assembly and a display device having the same are provided to form a mirror coat on a light guide plate to remove a reflecting sheet, thereby omitting a process of assembling a light guide plate and the reflecting sheet, reducing the manufacturing cost and improving productivity. A backlight assembly includes a light source(310), a light guide plate(400), and a mirror coat(500). The light guide plate is located on one side of a light-projecting face of the light source. The mirror coat is formed on at least one side of the light guide plate in order to guide light inputted to the light guide plate to a light-projecting face(400b) of the light guide plate and includes a diffused reflection member(510). The diffused reflection member is a cavity filled with air or nitrogen.
