A method and a system for providing data service channels in cable broadcasting are provided to offer data services through a channel corresponding to the channel number key signal of a remote controller, thereby enabling a user to use the data services easily. A method for providing data service channels in cable broadcasting comprises steps of: allowing a cable broadcasting transmitting unit to include channel information into a data service signal and transmit the data service signal(S1); and allowing a cable broadcasting receiving unit to receive the data service signal including the channel information and display the data service signal through a channel corresponding to the channel number key signal of a remote controller(S3). The data service signal is related to one of living, finance, entertainment, and game. The channel information is a program including a VCT(Virtual Channel Table) for providing virtual channel information and a PSIP(Program and System Information Protocol).
