An image forming device and a control method thereof are provided to enable a user to set up network setting easily by skipping a menu to a network setting menu when a network cable is connected, and reduce time/effort needed for searching the menu by checking and informing the user of the additional network setting. A network interface(210) detects connection of a network cable. A key input unit(220) receives a command and a network setting value from a user. A display unit(230) displays a screen and information related to network setting. An image forming controller(260) determines items requiring the network setting by checking the network setting, displays the screen for the network setting of the determined items, and performs the network setting based on the network setting value received from the user when the network cable is detected. A storing part(240) stores network setting information. The item includes at least one of an IP(Internet Protocol) address, a subnet mask, and a gateway. The image forming controller displays the network setting screen according to a network setting changing command of the user after displaying the usual network setting information. |
