<p>Gelification sensitisers for use in preparation of foamed rubbers from latices consisting of a condensation product, mol. wt. 500-100,000., of:- (1) H(HNCnH2n)2.NH2, where n = an integer, pref. 1-3, x = 0 or an integer pref. 0.6, with (2) an C1-5, pref. C2-3, aliphatic hydrocarbon compound, contng. at least two separate groups reactive to amines, at least one of which is a halogen atom, in the molar ratio from 0.5:1 to 3.5:1, pref. 1:1 to 3:1. (1) may be NH3, ethylene diamine, propylene diamine, diethylene triamine, etc. and (2) include 1,2-dichloro-ethane, 1,3-dichloropropane, 1,4-dichloro-butane, the corresponding Br derivs.; epichlorhydrin, alpha-dichlorhydrin, etc. A particularly useful product is obtained by condensing NH3 with 1,2-dichlor-ethane, in substantially equimolar proportions, to a mol. wt. of 500-1000.</p> |
