An image forming apparatus is provided to restrain the occurrence of a background phenomenon by preventing a reverse polarity toner from being transferred on a belt. A supply roller(112) allows a toner of a toner storage unit(170) to be attached on its outer circumferential surface. A belt(190) transfers the toner. A first roller(120) is disposed to be adjacent to the supply roller with the belt interposed therebetween and moves the toner from the supply roller toward the belt. A second roller(130) is disposed to be adjacent to a photosensitive drum(104) with the belt interposed therebetween and develops an electrostatic latent image with the toner on the belt. The third roller(140) rotatably supports the belt which has passed through the photosensitive drum. A recovering roller(150) is disposed to be adjacent to the third roller with the belt interposed therebetween and recovers a residual toner on the belt to the toner storage unit.
