A sign used in order to indicate an eco-friendly food is provided to let consumers know a time consumed after the food is taken out of the warehouse without identifying an expiration date of the food with a relatively short expiration date one by one. A sign(100) used in order to indicate an eco-friendly food comprises a natural leaf which changes color as time passes by being attached to the outside of a food packing paper or being included in a sign connected to the food and is characterized in that the leaf has predetermined shaped engraved portions(111,121a). A method for preparing the sign comprises the steps of: (a) preparing a natural leaf; (b) stacking a plate engraved into a predetermined shape on an upper side of the leaf; (c) putting an insect up on the upper side of the leaf to make the insect eat the leaf with the engraved portion, thereby forming an engraved portion on the leaf; and (d) attaching the leaf to the outside of a packing paper of the food or using the leaf at a sign by cutting out the leaf to be contained in a cover(120) and then inserting the cut leaf into the cover.
