A backlight unit in an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to enhance the luminance or luminance uniformity of an LCD by adjusting the isolation distance between fluorescent lamps. A backlight unit in an LCD comprises a reflective sheet(122), a plurality of fluorescent lamps(124) and a plurality of optical sheets. The fluorescent lamps, mounted on the reflective sheet, are arrayed side by side at regular isolation intervals. The optical sheets are settled above the fluorescent lamps. The isolation distance between two middle fluorescent lamps which neighbor with each other is wider or narrower than the isolation distances between other fluorescent lamps. |
