A method of driving a discharge display panel for executing adaptive initialization is provided to display normal images during an initial operation by initializing display cells during the initial operation. In a method of a discharge display panel to apply rising and falling voltages to display cells during an initial operation, at least one of variation rates of the rising and falling voltages on times is varied in proportion to ambient temperature of the discharge display panel. The rising and falling voltages are repeatedly applied. When the ambient temperature of the discharge display panel is in a first temperature range, the rising voltage as a first rising rate is applied during a first period(t3-t4a) and the falling voltage as a first falling rate is applied during a second period(t5a-t6a). When the ambient temperature of the discharge display panel is in a second temperature range lower than the first temperature range, the rising voltage as a second rising rate lower than the first rising rate is applied and the falling voltage as a second falling rate lower than the first falling rate is applied.
