A covering has a geometry that conforms to that of the mouth of a cavity to maintain closure of an underground system and allow waste to be deposited into a container. An actuator tilts the covering about an articulation between two extreme positions. A retainer with a blocking holds the covering in an operational position when the underground system is open to allow a container to be hoisted to collect the waste from the container and to clean and disinfect the container.
