A device for comminuting particulate organic substances in suspensions of microorganisms suspended in a carrier medium, especially in waste water, comprises at least one flow channel (14) through which the suspension flows and in which an effective compartment is configured by a narrowing and then enlarging cross-section. The flow channel (14) extends substantially straight between an inlet opening (15) and an outlet opening (16) for the suspension and is received on the surface (11) of the suspension contained in a container so as to be radially rotated about a vertical axis (8) in such a manner as to dip into the suspension with at least the inlet opening that is nearest to the axis of rotation (8) so that due to the centrifugal force caused by the rotational movement of a drive unit (7) the medium flows in a direction from the axis of rotation (8) to the outside. The invention provides a disintegration device in the form of a flow channel with a Laval-type nozzle wherein the required liquid pressure is produced by the high-speed rotation of the flow channel disposed radially to the vertical axis (8) due to the centrifugal force occurring during rotation.
