An apparatus for improving performance in an RoF OFDM communication system is provided to reduce a peak-to-average power ratio by applying a partial transmit sequence method and distort data to be transmitted by a pre-distorter, thereby improving the performance of the RoF OFDM communication system. An RoF(Radio over Fiber) OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) communication system comprises a data transmitter(202), an encoder(204), and a pre-distorter(203) between the data transmitter and the encoder. The pre-distorter compensates distortion occurring in an AM-AM(Amplitude Modulation)/PM(Phase Modulation) nonlinear amplifier(219). The pre-distorter is comprised of FETs(Field Effect Transistors) or diodes and compensates AM-AM characteristics and AM-PM characteristics, which the AM-AM/PM nonlinear amplifier has, inversely.
