METHOD FOR ENCODING AND DECODING AN AUDIO SIGNAL

A method for decoding and encoding an audio signal is provided to restore a tweeter channel effectively with a small amount of data, by copying a multi-channel to generate the tweeter channel. An encoded down-mix signal is core-decoded(301). A high-frequency range of signal of a multi-channel is copied to generate a tweeter channel by using the core-decoded down-mix signal and tweeter channel generation information(305). The tweeter channel generation information is a value or a default value generated while a multi-channel is generated by using the encoded down-mix signal. The tweeter channel generation information is extracted from space information restored while the multi-channel is generated by using the encoded down-mix signal.
