1-(4-piperidinyl) benzimidazolones as histamine H3 antagonists

Disclosed are 1-(4-piperidinyl) benzimidazolones represented by the structural formula (I) wherein the substituents are as described in the specification. Compounds of the type disclosed are histamine H3 receptor antagonists useful in the treatment of inflammatory diseases, allergic conditions and central nervous system disorders. These compounds are particularly suitable for treating various diseases or conditions, such as, for example, allergy, allergy-induced airway responses, and congestion (e.g., nasal congestion). Also disclosed is the use of a compound of formula (I) in combination with a H1 receptor antagonist for treating said diseases or conditions.
