LIGHT GUIDE PANEL AND BACKLIGHT UNIT USING THE SAME

A light guide plate and a backlight unit using the same are provided to reduce the number of prism sheets by forming prism patterns with "X" shapes which are overlapped each other multiple times on the light guide plate. A light guide plate(210) includes an upper surface (214) and a lower surface(212) facing each other, a first side surface(216) and a second side surface(218) facing each other, and guides light input through the first side surface to the second guide surface by internal reflection between the upper and lower surfaces. A light source(240) faces the first side surface of the light guide plate, and output light toward the first side surface. The light guide plate includes a plurality of dot patterns(220) formed locally at the lower surface and reflecting and diffusing incident light, and a prism pattern(230) formed at the upper surface to have X-shapes which are overlapped each other multiple times and transmitting and concentrating light reflected by the dot patterns. The prism pattern includes first prisms, separated from each other in parallel on the upper surface, transmitting and concentrating light reflected by the dot patterns, and includes second prisms, intersected at the first prisms on the upper surface and separated parallel from each other, transmitting and concentrating light reflected by the dot patterns. The first and second prisms are at an angle of 1 to 20 with respect to a normal of the first side surface.
