PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular steering column device capable of moving to a vehicular front side in collision, and being inexpensively structured without using powder, a collision detecting sensor, an ignition device or the like. SOLUTION: When a break away bracket (a column side member) 31 receives a load not less than a predetermined value toward the vehicular front side, coupling support by a coupling mechanism A1 is released to move the break away bracket 31 from a set position toward the vehicular front side. In that case, a coupling mechanism A1 is equipped with a spring unit 34 including a spring 34c. Then, the spring 34c can expands in a vertical direction when the break away bracket 31 is at the set position, increases holding force to a vehicle body side bracket 91 of the break away bracket 31, expands in a slanting fore-and-aft direction when the break away bracket 31 moves from the set position to the vehicular front side in regard to the vehicle body side bracket 91, and assists movement to the vehicular front side of the break away bracket 31.
