PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid jet apparatus and a liquid supply unit, which enable the selective switching of a liquid for being supplied to a liquid jet head, without complicating the constitution of a liquid supply passage. SOLUTION: The liquid supply unit is equipped with ink cartridges 21a and 21b which allow the storage of mat black ink (MBk) and photo black ink (PBk), respectively, and ink supply pipes 27a and 27b for supplying the MBk and the PBk to a recording head 17 by pressurizing the MBk and the PBk by means of a pressure pump 25. The liquid supply unit is also equipped with valve devices 18a and 18b which are provided in respective midway positions in the ink supply pipes 27a and 27b and which are operated for opening/closing on the basis of a change in the pressure of the MBk and the PBk in the ink supply pipes 27a and 27b on the more downstream position than each of the midway positions, and a pushing device 70 which brings about the forced opening operation of the valve devices 18a and 18b corresponding to the ink, selected to be supplied to the recorded head 17, of the MBk and PBk.
