PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointer instrument for a vehicle having excellent visibility and an excellent appearance by preventing a pointer shadow generated on the back of a dial from being viewed. SOLUTION: The instrument has a constitution wherein a light guide plate 5 is fixed close to the back of the dial 2, and light from a light emitting diode 7 for illuminating the dial 2 is allowed to enter from a light receiving part 5a of the light guide plate 5, and a shielding wall 8 is arranged on the back of the light guide plate 5, and light from a light emitting diode 6 for illuminating the pointer 11 is allowed to enter, in other words, a shadow of a support arm part 11b of the pointer 11 is prevented from falling onto the light guide plate 5. Hereby, since the shadow of the support arm part generated by the light from the light emitting diode 6 is prevented from being seen through to the surface side of the dial, a defect that the shadow of the pointer generated on the back of the dial is seen through to the surface side of the dial and viewed in a conventional pointer instrument for the vehicle can be prevented, and thereby a combination meter 1 having excellent visibility and an excellent appearance can be provided.
