PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent the vibration of a belt and the generation of noise accompanied by the vibration by imparting optimum thrust to the belt even during the driving torque fluctuation of an accessory pulley accompanied by a state change of an engine accessory. SOLUTION: The position of a tension pulley 11 which thrusts the belt 3 is detected by a position detecting means (an encoder) 12. A control means 14 calculates optimum thrust imparted to the belt 3 by the tension pulley 11 for suppressing the vibration of the belt 3 in accordance with the position change amount of the tension pulley 11 detected by the position detecting means 12 and a time required for the position change and controls the operation of an actuator (a servo motor) 13 to impart the calculated optimum thrust to the belt 3 and move the tension pulley 11.
