摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out nozzle inspection using induced electric current in a position less susceptible to noise by permitting the detection of an electrical change without increasing the number of parts. SOLUTION: In the inkjet printer, nozzle inspection concerning whether inks are actually discharged from nozzles 23 is performed on the basis of the voltage of a nozzle plate 27 at the time when a print head 24 is driven so as to ensure that the inks are sequentially discharged to an inspection area 52 from the nozzles 23 with a prescribed potential difference caused to occur between the nozzle plate 27 and the inspection area 52. In the nozzle inspection, a voltage change in the nozzle plate 27 is detected by a voltage detection circuit 54 provided in an encoder board 64 on a carriage 22. Subsequently, low susceptibility to noise of the nozzle plate 27 and the voltage detection circuit 54 because of their mounting on the carriage 22 reduces the distance between them.
