PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of the communication speed of a computer and the deterioration of a disk access speed in executing a virus check program. SOLUTION: A virus check server which detects the update of a virus definition file mounts the storage region of a computer stored through a network in a storage, and checks whether or not a file stored in the storage is infected by virus. In this case, a path different from a path between the computer used by a user and the storage is used for communication between the virus check server and the storage so that it is possible to prevent the communication speed of the computer or the speed of disk access from being deteriorated even when the virus check server executes virus check.
