PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device capable of easily specifying a failure source or a failed part, and to provide an electronic device control method. SOLUTION: A control unit 14 determines whether a portable music player 1 satisfies dropping conditions based on acceleration data ACC from an acceleration sensor 3, and stores the acceleration data ACC in a memory 2 when the dropping conditions are satisfied.
