PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus capable of ensuring effective use of information from a radio tag and suppressing the productivity of image reading by surely reading the information from the radio tag. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus is configured to include: an image read means 11 for optically reading an image drawn on an original from the original to be read; a plurality of transmission reception means 15 arranged along a main scanning direction wherein the image read means 11 reads the image for contactless communication with the radio tag embedded into the original; and a position shift means 11b that shifts a relative position between the transmission reception means 15 and the original along the subscanning direction wherein the image read means 11 reads the image.
