PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin, wide and high-stretching-ratio film, and to provide a fabrication method therefor. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of thin film, a thin film having hydroxyl groups on a surface thereof is arranged in a stretching bath containing a dicarboxylic acid. Then, the thin film is stretched in the stretching bath. Before arranging the thin film in the stretching bath, the thin film is swollen and the swollen thin film is dyed with an iodide solution. The thin film having hydroxyle groups on the surface is, for example, a PVA film. Carbon number of the dicarboxylic acid is 4 to 6. The dicarboxylic acid is, for example, adipic acid.
