PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten total inspection time in a leakage inspection method for an underground tank. SOLUTION: A detection output from a sensor 22 used for determining the presence of an abnormality detection output from the sensor 22 in a standing-by determination is diverted as the detection output from the sensor 22 inspecting for the presence of a leakage portion generated in the underground tank 2, when the sensor 22 is determined to be under a standing-by condition capable of detecting a liquid level change of a liquid phase part L in the underground tank 2, in a standing-by determination step for determining whether the sensor 22 is under the standing-by condition capable of detecting the liquid level change of the liquid phase part L in the underground tank 2 or not, under the condition where a gas phase part G in the underground tank 2 is brought into a slightly pressurized state or a slight vacuum state.
