PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encoder disk for enlarging adhering area to reinforce the adhesive strength; and also to provide an encoder using this encoder disk. SOLUTION: The encoder 1 comprises a hub 3 connected to a rotation shaft 2a of a subject 2, and a pulse disk 4 attached to this hub 3, and radiates light to the pulse disk 4 to detect a rotation angle of the subject 2. The pulse disk 4 comprises a disk-like optical disk 11 made of transparent material, an absorbing layer 12 formed so as to cover one surface of the optical disk 11, and a reflection layer 13 formed to have a predetermined pattern on the circumferential section of the upper surface of the absorbing layer 12. A diffusion section 14 having undergone diffusion processing is formed in the absorbing layer 12 surrounded by the reflection layer 13. In this encoder 1, a UV adhesive is applied between the hub 3 and optical disk 11 to bond them; ultraviolet light is radiated from the upside of the pulse disk 4, the ultraviolet light is diffused by the diffusion section 14 and radiated to the UV adhesive to harden it, thereby sticking the hub 3 to the pulse disk 4.
