PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting stacked form of slabs that can accurately detect the stacked form of the slabs stacked and conveyed by a conveyor or the like and allows efficiency improvement of crane work. SOLUTION: A plurality of projectors 13 for projecting horizontal light beams 15 crossing the conveyor 2 for conveying the stacked slabs 1 and a plurality of photodetectors 14 for receiving the horizontal light beams 15 are arranged at intervals ofΔh in the height direction. The stacked form of the slabs 1 is detected based on time variation of the receiving state of the horizontal light beams 15 accompanying the conveyance of the stacked slabs 1.
