PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mother-of-pearl-like ornamental object which enables easy manufacture of an ornament emitting pearlescent like that of a mother-of-pearl, without requiring expertise, and a method for presenting pearly luster like that of the mother-of-pearl. SOLUTION: A welcome board 1 has a mirror 3 composed of sheet glass 31, a silver film 32 and a protective film 33. Recesses 34 are translucent portions, and are partially not provided with the silver film 32 and the protective film 33 on the reverse side of the mirror 3. A pearlescent film 4 having translucency and a light reflector 5 are provided in superposition in this sequence so that they cover the translucent portions 34.
