Cross-linkable moulding compositions comprise isotactic polybutene-1, 0.005 to 2 weight per cent of an organic peroxide, 0.05 to 4 weight per cent of sulphur and optionally 0.1 to 2 weight per cent of an accelerator. Specified peroxides are dibenzoyl peroxide, dicumyl peroxide, t.-butyl perbenzoate, di-t.-butyl peroxide, t.-butylα-cumyl peroxide, dibenzyl peroxide, bis - (t.- butyl peroxy methyl) durol, bis - (α,α-dimethylbenzyl) peroxide, 2,5-dimethyl - 2,5 - peroxyhexine - 3, 2,5 - dimethyl- 2,5 - diisopropylperoxy hexane, 2,2 - bis - (t.- butyl peroxy) butane and 2,5-dimethylhexane- 2,5 - isopropylidene - di - peroxide. Specified accelerators are diphenylguanidine, di-o-tolyl guanidine, mercaptobenzothiazole, tetramothylthiuram mono- and disulphides, crotoniumylidene tetramine, benzothiazole zinc mercaptide and zinc oxide with stearic acid. The compositions may also contain antioxidants, calcium stearate, sodium stearate, carbon black, titanium dioxide, cadmium sulphide and chalk, and may be simultaneously moulded or extruded and cured, e.g. to form plates, tubes and cable sheathing. Examples describe compositions comprising polybutene-1, carbon black, 4,4<SP>1</SP>- thiobis - (3 - methyl - 6 - t. - butylphenol), dilauryl thiodipropionate, sulphur, tetramethylthiuram disulphide, mercaptobenzothiazole, stearic acid, zinc oxide, and 2,5-dimethyl-2,5- peroxyhexane or 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-diisopropylperoxyhexane.
