<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discover a new β/δ activator of a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) to provide an external composition for the skin, effective for prevention/amelioration of rough skin, skin inflammation and reduction of skin barrier function; and to provide a bleaching agent. <P>SOLUTION: The PPAR activator comprises one or more kinds of compounds selected from a phenol derivative, coumarins and secoiridoids as active ingredients. The bleaching agent and the external composition for the skin contain the compounds as active ingredients. The PPAR activator has excellent PPAR β/δ activating activity, and the external composition for the skin containing the activator as the active ingredient is effective in bleaching effects, and for prevention/amelioration of rough skin, skin inflammation and reduction of skin barrier function. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
