PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device in which the productivity of image formation is improved by reducing distances between paper sheets continuously fed to an image forming part.

SOLUTION: This image forming device comprises a printer engine 2 forming images on a paper sheet 3, a sheet cassette 3 in which sheets 3 are stored in a stacking state, and a sheet feeder 5 separating the stacked sheets 3 one by one and feeding them to the printer engine 2. A switch-back route 17 in which the sheets 3 taken out from the sheet cassette 4 are temporarily stored is branched from the carrying route 16 of the paper feeder 5. The sheets 3 carried from the sheet cassette 4 are stored in the switch-back route 17 from the end thereof. The sheets 3 are switched back so that the rear end of the sheets 3 stored in the switch-back route 17 is positioned at the front end by the rotation of a carrying roller 22 and fed to the printer engine 2.
