<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line use priority setting method and communication apparatus to provide a lowest unit price when using a plurality of lines including a line of which a communication unit price varies in accordance with the amount of transmitted/received data. <P>SOLUTION: In a communication system, one virtual line is constituted by combining lines each including at least one or more lines each of which a communication unit price varies in accordance with the amount of transmitted/received data and data are transmitted/received between communication apparatuses via such a virtual line, wherein variations in the communication unit prices of lines constituting the virtual line are detected. The variations in the communication unit prices of the lines are reflected in the priority order for using the lines.
