PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of driving a biological information device and the biological information device capable of sufficiently reducing the electric power usage and significantly improving the handleability. SOLUTION: As the continuance of the contact with a user's body for prescribed time T1 is a condition for measuring the body temperature in driving a clinical thermometer, the electric power can be reduced without suddenly starting measurement of the body temperature when the clinical thermometer is simply touched not for measuring the body temperature. The contact determination S11 can be easily set only by storing the length of the prescribed time T1 in the determination of contact in a memory. In addition, as the elapse of measurement standby time T2 is a condition for starting the measurement, the time to start the measurement can be delayed by the measurement standby time T2, and as a result, the time for the measurement of the body temperature can be reduced and the quantity of consumption of the electric power to drive a temperature measuring sensor can be reduced.
