PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a truing device that trues an inclined-shaft tool grinding wheel into a columnar shape with a high accuracy without requiring a new moving axis other than an X-axis, a Z-axis, and a B-axis and height adjustment at the edge part of a trued tool grinding wheel, and to provide a truing method. SOLUTION: A truer 24 is fixed at the tip of a main spindle of an ultraprecision machining lathe device via a base metal 25. The truer 24 is provided with a grinding abrasive face composed of an inclined face 24-1 at 45 degrees and composed such that the inclined face 24-1 takes two forms of downward-facing and upward-facing by 180-degree rotation. A cylindrical tool-grinding wheel 22 is mounted at the tip of a rotary shaft 21 inclined by 45 degrees oppositely to the truer 24. The peripheral face of the tool grinding wheel 22 is trued when the inclined face 24-1 of the truer 24 takes the downward-facing form.
