PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated cutting tool having high lubricity to a cutting object, and having excellent abrasion resistance and chipping resistance. SOLUTION: In this surface-coated cutting tool, a surface of a base formed with a honing part 8 in a cross ridge part of a cutting face and a flank is coated with at least one layer of hard coating layer by chemical vapor deposition. At least surfaces of the cutting face and the hard coating layer in the honing part 8 are polished, and fine recessed parts 7 are interspersed, and while the fine recessed parts 7 are interspersed on the cutting face more than in the honing part 8.
