PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To timely carry out nozzle inspection using a printing recording liquid. SOLUTION: When there exist printing jobs, the inkjet printer reads print quality levels (printing modes) included in the printing jobs (S102). The print quality levels are low when the printing mode is a "fast" mode and high when the printing mode is a "clear" mode. Inspection timing means the timing of starting a nozzle inspection routine to inspect whether the use of ink causes nozzle blocking. When print quality is a low level, the number of printing passes is set at a high value and when the quality is a high level, the number is set at a low value. The printer reads inspection timing corresponding to a print quality level included in a printing job, adopts the inspection timing as current inspection timing (S104), then makes printing for one page (S110), and executes the nozzle inspection routine (S114) at the time when the number of printing passes during the printing has reached the inspection timing.
