PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wound type battery having a high capacity by improving its volume energy density. SOLUTION: The wound type battery has a positive electrode 1 and a negative electrode 4, in which electrode active material is formed on a current collector of belt shape, laminated and wound through a separator 7 and housed in an outer package. The separator 7 is not arranged at the portion where the electrodes of same polarity or the electrode and the outer package to become same polarity are opposed, and the separator 7 is arranged at the portion where the positive electrode 1 and the negative electrode 4 are opposed to each other.
