PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cost without causing degradation of the characteristics of a rotating electric machine. SOLUTION: This rotating electric machine includes a shaft 18 disposed rotatably, a rotor core 28 fixed at the outer periphery of the shaft 18, a motor case 12 accommodating the rotor core 28, a stator core 22 disposed on the outer periphery side of the rotor core 28 and fixed at the motor case 12, and bearings 34, 36 fixed at a flange 14 or the motor case 12 and rotatably supporting the shaft 18. The stator core 22 and the rotor core 28 are constituted of a laminated core by an electromagnetic steel plate. The plate thickness of the laminated core of the stator core 22 is made smaller than the plate thickness of the laminated core that forms the rotor core 28, and the stator core 22 is constituted of an electromagnetic steel plate, having proper magnetic characteristics than that of the rotor core 28 that contains iron loss.
