PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for starting a data phase locked loop (PLL) in executing seek and a related device for solving various problems of a conventional technology. SOLUTION: The method for staring a data PLL during executing seek includes the step (a) of determining whether the pickup head (PUH) of an optical device executes seek for a storage medium, the step (b) of determining whether the PUH of the optical device is on the data track of the storage medium, and the step (c) of adjusting the data PLL of the optical device when the results of executing the steps (a) and (b) show that the PUH of the optical device executes seek for the storage medium, and the PUH is on the data track of the storage medium.
