PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk storage device and a control method for the disk storage device capable of suppressing off-track write caused by stick slip due to thermal distortion. SOLUTION: A magnetic disk device 1 is equipped with a magnetic disk 10, a head 11 for performing write to the magnetic disk 10 and a temperature sensor 20 for detecting the temperature inside the magnetic disk device 1. Furthermore, the magnetic disk device 1 changes determination conditions in determining whether to prohibit the writing to the magnetic disk 10 by the head 11 based on the measured temperature detected by the temperature sensor 20 and the amount of the temperature change calculated using the measured temperature.
