PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air fuel ratio control device for an internal combustion engine capable of accurately controlling air fuel ratio by a simple method. SOLUTION: In-cylinder air quantity Mcyl is calculated based on cylinder pressure and in-cylinder air temperature T at timing of intake valve close. Heat release rate per crank angle dQ/dθis calculated based on cylinder pressure per crank angle. Heat release quantity Q is calculated by integrating the heat release rate dQ/dθover combustion period. Quantity of fuel supplied into the cylinder q_inj is calculated by dividing the heat release quantity by low calorific value of fuel q_fuel. In-cylinder air fuel ratio in the cylinder AFcyl is calculated by dividing the in-cylinder air quantity Mcyl by fuel quantity q_inj. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
