PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mounting structure of an automatic shift operating device capable of placing it together with stays in the same position without causing an instrument panel to protrude toward inside a cabin. SOLUTION: Stays 8 and 9 are arranged vertically divided, between which the automatic shift operating device 11 is installed, wherefore the two can be positioned in the same position without making mutual interference. Accordingly there is no necessity as conventional that the center cluster part 3 of the instrument panel 1 is protruded toward inside the cabin and this shift operating device 11 is offset in the fore-and-aft direction toward inside the cabin relative to a stay continued up and down as conventional. Because the stays 8 and 9 divided up and down are coupled together by a high rigidity part 14 of the shift operating device 11, the stiffness as stays can be maintained, and a steering member 4 can be supported certainly by them 8 and 9.
