PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To register a reproduction start position of stream data without interrupting recording and/or reproduction of the stream data. SOLUTION: A light having passed through a lens unit 2 is converted into motion image data in an imaging unit 3. A compressing/decompressing unit compresses the motion image data to generate a motion image file. The motion image file is serially recorded in an HDD (Hard Disk Drive) 7. If a marking button 10 is depressed in recording the motion image file, an index generating unit 6 generates bookmark information 24 from time information generated when the marking button 10 is depressed, and stores the generated information in a memory 4. The index generating unit 6 causes the memory 4 to store the bookmark information 24 every time the marking button 10 is depressed. Upon completion of imaging of the motion image, the index generating unit 6 links the file information 23 of a motion image file for which imaging has completed with the bookmark information accumulated in the memory 4.
