PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat display device which displays with display elements of high definition in high luminance with small power consumption. SOLUTION: The display device is provided with a lower panel 10 in which an electron generating layer 12 containing a radioactive material and a lower electrode layer 13 provided with an aperture part 13a which corresponds to every pixel of a display screen and on which the electron generating layer 12 is exposed are laminated on a support substrate 11, and an upper panel 20 on which a phosphor layer 22 that is arranged opposed to the electron generating layer 12 exposed from the aperture part 13a and an upper electrode layer 23 are laminated. The display device controls voltage impression between the lower electrode layer 13 and the upper electrode layer 23 for every aperture part 13a and extracts electrons emitted from the electron generating layer 12 from the aperture part 13a and makes collide into the phosphor layer 22, and displays an image by luminescence of the phosphor layer 22.
