PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device capable of automatically changing the expression of a portrait according to a content of e-mail, and a portrait data providing system capable of providing portrait data to a portable terminal device of a user. SOLUTION: When a face image is transmitted from a portrait display terminal 1, a portrait conversion server 2 converts, upon receipt thereof, the face image into a portrait, and returns portrait basic data and an expression parameter to the terminal 1. The terminal 1 stores the received portrait basic data and expression parameter in association with an address book. The terminal 1 accesses, upon receipt of an e-mail from a mail transmitting terminal 3, the address of a transmitter thereof, reads portrait data relevant to the address, and displays it on a display screen. The expression of the displayed portrait can be changed by changing the expression parameter according to an emotional symbol contained in the e-mail. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
