PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool for fitting an optical connector which easily and securely fits the optical connector to an optical fiber on the spot and enables even operators with different skill to suitably fit the optical connector. SOLUTION: The tool A for fitting the optical connector used to fit the optical connector 2 to the optical fiber 1 comprises an attachment tool B having an attachment body part 7 where an alignment groove for holding the optical fiber 1 is extended along an axis and a cover body 8 provided rotatably to the attachment body part 7, and an insertion assisting tool C having a body part 20 to which the attachment tool B engages slidably only along the axis and an optical connector holding part 21 provided to the tip side of the body part 20 and holding the optical connector 2, and the insertion assisting tool C is provided with a latch part 22 which holds the attachment tool B while making the optical fiber 1 held by the attachment tool B abut on the optical fiber to be connected to the optical connector 2.
