PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for anisotropic dye film capable of suppressing the occurrence of cracking and peeling of an anisotropic dye film upon drying, lake-formation or the like. SOLUTION: A substrate having cationic groups on a surface thereof is used and the anisotropic dye film is prepared on the substrate.
