<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particulate filter having an improved mountability on a car capable of achieving a cost reduction. <P>SOLUTION: The particulate filter 1 is constituted of a filter main body 4 made of a porous material molded into a honeycomb comprised of a plurality of channels 3 through which exhaust gas 2 passes and plug bodies 5, 6 that plug one end each of the channels 3 of the filter main body 4 alternately at the inlet side and the outlet side, thereof allowing the exhaust gas 2 to pass through porous thin walls 7 that separate each of the channels 3 so as to catch particulate in the exhaust gas 2 disposes each one of the inlet-side plug bodies 5 at a position away from the inlet end-face of the filter main body 4 by a required length toward inside of the channels 3, keeping an oxidation catalyst 8 having an enhanced capability of accelerating the oxidation of a hydrocarbon (HC) gas carried by a first area of the thin walls 7 located between the positions where the inlet-side plug bodies 5 are disposed and the inlet end-face of the filter main body 4, and a NOx adsorption and reduction catalyst 9 carried by a second area of the thin walls 7 located between the positions where the inlet-side plug bodies 5 are disposed and the outlet end-face of the filter main body 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
