PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a milling cutter for roughing of a workpiece which prevents chipping of a cutting edge area, especially, a top part having a corrugated cross section as much as possible, and can reduce the investment required for the countermeasure taken for the purpose as much as possible. SOLUTION: The milling cutter is equipped with a plurality of cutting inclined surfaces 3 and grooves 4 disposed between the plurality of cutting inclined surfaces 3. The cutting inclined surfaces 3 have cutting edges 6 on the cutting surface sides 5, the cutting edges 6 extends along the width of the cutting inclined surfaces 3, has the corrugated cross section 7 having an oblique angle part in the cutting edge area. The oblique angle part extends along the whole height of the apex part of the corrugated cross section 7, has a blade angle of blunter angle than that of the milling cutter 1, and a rake angle (γ2) of the oblique angle part is within 0°to -30°, and preferably approximate -25°.
