PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive mechanism for a feed roller 12 in a printer. SOLUTION: This drive mechanism comprises a worm gear 14 connected to the feed roller 12 and constituting a rotating unit 10 together with the feed roller, a worm 20 engaged with the worm gear, a motor 22 driving the worm, an encoder 24 detecting the incrementδψof the angular position of the worm, and a servo-controller 48 for motor. The rotating unit 10 comprises a synchronizing mark 36 determining a reference positionψ0 and a reference detector 38 for detecting the synchronizing mark. The servo-controller 48 is adapted to be accessible to a calibration memory 50 and output the calibrated motor control signals C according to the reference positionψ0 and the increment of the angular position of the feed roller 12 provided using the incrementδψof the angular position of the worm.
